FSW Design finalists at the Plastics Industry Awards

21st May 2005

In recognition of the outstanding quality of the design work produced by the consultancy, FSW has once again been short-listed as a finalist in the Industrial Product Design category of the 2005 Plastics Industry Awards.

On the 13th May, FSW attended the prestigious awards held at London's Hilton Hotel, Park Lane for their work on "Skipper", an innovative new safety barrier.

Designed for Skipper TM, the barrier offers a new approach to traffic and construction management. The product includes a fully retractable nine-metre tape allowing areas to be closed off by fitting it to the top of most existing road cones.

Among the benefits of the product are: a highly visible barrier; a reduction in the number of road cones needed to cordon off an area and the ability to cordon off areas of any shape and size with multipoint connectivity.

Sponsored by Du Pont, a panel of expert judges commented, "The project partners had followed a good design and development path." They also described the material selection as excellent.

Director Philip Forrest Smith, expressed his delight at being short-listed as a finalist for the awards saying:
"Its very satisfying to receive recognition from the industry for the design work undertaken for a project of this nature."
